Crash on 81 Near Kirkwood Causes a Soggy Mess
Officials with the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police are investigating the collision of two tractor trailers on Interstate 81 North, just inside the New York State border that left a long debris field and closed part of the highway at 2:53 a.m. September 21.
Authorities say a truck carrying paper products apparently rear-ended a tractor trailer hauling water causing one of the trucks to end up partially tipped over in a ditch in the area of mile marker 2.
There were no injuries reported but officials were concerned about the crash combined with the set-up of fog in the area.
One lane of the highway was closed for a couple hours.
