Crash Leads to Stolen Property Charges Against Tioga County Man

A Tioga County man is accused of having over $3,000 worth of stolen property in his possession following a motorcycle crash. 

County Sheriff’s officials say 44-year-old Walter Vanderpoel of Candor was arrested at around 3:45 in the morning of December 30 and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of marijuana, speeding, moving from a lane unsafely, driving an unregistered motorcycle, improper motorcycle plates, operating out of class, aggravated unlicensed operation, having an uninspected vehicle and driving without insurance.

Officials say the charges resulted from the investigation into a crash on Ballou Road in the Town of Tioga.

Vanderpoel has been ordered to appear in Town of Tioga Court later this month.
