The Tioga County Public Health Department says it has been notified of multiple positive cases of COVID-19 at the Elderwood skilled nursing facility in Waverly.

Officials say cases include both residents and staff. Due to privacy laws, officials say Elderwood is unable to comment on the identity of those affected or their current health conditions.

According to a statement, health officials say Tioga County Public Health is coordinating with the County department of Emergency Management to provide additional personal protective equipment to staff at the facility.

The residents at Elderwood are reportedly in isolation at the facility.

The Health Department says the nursing home began notifying family members of residents about the additional COVID-19 cases Thursday, April 9.

Under state guidelines, health screenings are required for all nursing home workers each day when they enter a facility and requires them to wear surgical masks.
