Cortland Men Face Charges After Drugs Found During Traffic Stop
Police in Cortland County seized heroin and other drugs after a vehicle was pulled over on Route 13 for traffic violations.
Authorities say the traffic stop occurred in the town of Cortlandville late Saturday morning.
Cortland County sheriff's officers discovered 87 glassine envelopes containing heroin during a vehicle search. They also found buprenorphine, packaging materials and some cash.
Investigators say 27-year-old Kyle Dayton of Cortland and 39-year-old Patrick Duffy of Cortland were charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. They also face misdemeanor drug-related charges.
In addition to the drug counts, Dayton was charged with reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation and displaying a forged instrument.
Dayton was ordered held in Cortland County Jail without bail. Duffy was released on an appearance ticket.
