Cortland Couple Face Federal Charges for Child Porn Involving 5-Year-Old

Federal prosecutors say a Cortland couple is being charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

35-year-old Christopher Perry and 38-year-old Sarah Gates are named under a federal criminal complaint filed yesterday, accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a five-year-old child for the purpose of producing pornography.

The investigation by the City of Cortland Police is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call (607) 758-8303.

Authorities say the federal charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of up to 30 years as well as a fine of up to 250-thousand dollars and registration as a sex offender.
