Cortland County Man Charged With Rape

A Cortland County man is charged with felony rape and criminal sex act.

Sheriff’s officials say 41-year-old Elijah Closson of Taylor is accused of physically restraining the victim, who is known to him, in September.

Authorities say they couldn’t find Closson at the time of the complaint but he was located and arrested last week.  Deputies say they found Closson to be in possession of methamphetamine when he was taken into custody October 29.

Closson is charged with the two felony counts as well as misdemeanor counts of unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $60,000 bail and ordered to appear in Town of Cincinnatus Court at a later date.
