Cooperstown Captures Boys Class C Basketball Championship

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes are the 2019 NYSPHSAA Boys Basketball Class C champions after defeating the Middle Early College Kats 71-61 in Binghamton today (Sunday).  Senior Jack Lambert led the way with 23 points including a 5-8 showing from three-point range.  Right behind him was 6-8 sophomore John Kennedy who scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

The Hawkeyes were up at the end of the first half by a score of 34-22 and increased their lead to 50-35 after three quarters. Senior Ja'Kari Nettles paced the Kats with 19 points and junior Devonte Prince added 14 more.

The game was the first of two afternoon contests wrapping up the 2019 NYSPHSAA Boys Championships.  The final game pits Harrisville against Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (OESJ) for the Class D Championship.
