A Conklin couple is accused of selling stolen brake drums for scrap.

New York State Police say 57 year old Rusty McConnell and his girlfriend, 41 year old April Westbrook, are charged with falsifying business records since they allegedly signed several documents at scrap yards claiming they owned the brake drums.

Troopers say they arrested the couple August 29 after getting a complaint of the theft of 37 brake drums from Sandbox Logistics on State Route 11 in the Town of Kirkwood.

Investigators say they determined the couple had dropped off the stolen brake drums to get cash in the City of Binghamton on several different dates.

Both suspects are charged with four counts of felony falsifying business records and misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property.

McConnell and Westbrook are to appear in Binghamton City Court September 9.
