Eight new vehicles are being put into service, replacing BC Transit buses that are over 14 years old.
The new, clean diesel Gillig buses cost $446, 872 each with most of the cost, $2,565,780, being covered through State Capital Funding, 25%, $897,064, from Federal Formula Funding and 3.14%, $112,132, covered by the county.
Officials say the buses will not only offer cleaner emissions, lower fuel consumption and lower the costs to operate per mile but also have a more comfortable ride for passengers.
