The City of Binghamton Water Distribution Department will conduct city-wide hydrant flushing and testing beginning September 17th.

The flushing and testing  will occur Monday though Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.  City officials say the project will last for approximately four weeks.

Officials also say that some water discoloration may be evident at various times throughout the process but that the water will remain safe for normal use.

The city flushes its hydrants twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall, to ensure that all water lines and hydrants are fully functional.
