Byrne Dairy Plans to Open Second Broome County Store
Syracuse-based Byrne Dairy is going to expand its convenience store presence in the Binghamton area.
The company now intends to build a Byrne Dairy & Deli in the village of Whitney Point. Byrne currently is completing work on its first Broome County store in Endicott.
Company vice president Christian Brunelle said the Whitney Point store would be located on Route 11 at River Road. He said two parcels for the project are under contract.
Broome County property records indicate the lots are owned by Charles Manasse.
Brunelle said the company's presentation to the Whitney Point village board was "very well-received."
Plans call for a 5,152-square-foot store, which would be larger than the Endicott location. Brunelle said a car wash also is planned for the Whitney Point project.
Byrne Dairy now operates 63 convenience stores. Construction is continuing on the Endicott location at East Main Street and Loder Avenue. That store is scheduled to open in late May.
