BU Men Journey North to Face Black Bears
The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team visits the state of Maine for their final regular season road game on Saturday morning at 11:00 A.M at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Tomorrow's game will be aired on News Radio 1290 WNBF beginning at 10:45 A.M. BU held a late afternoon practice on Friday in Orono on the campus of the University of Maine.
Even though both teams will open playoff competition on the road Saturday's game still has postseason implications. The Bearcats are currently in seventh place and one game ahead of the Black Bears. Binghamton is 4-10 in America East while the Black Bears are 3-11. Both have one more conference game remaining after Saturday's contest. The Bearcats host Albany on Tuesday night and the Black Bears travel to New Hampshire also on Tuesday night.
In a January 26 game at the Events Center the Bearcats defeated Maine 78-66. Caleb Stewart was BU's big gun with 26 points and 11 rebounds. In the overall series Maine holds a 19-18 edge while BU is 5-12 overall in games played in Maine.
Heading into Saturday's action should the standings hold where they are Maine would play a quarterfinal playoff in Vermont next Saturday night and the Bearcats would travel to Long Island to face Stony Brook also on Saturday night.
