While almost all of the attention on medical issues recently has been on the coronavirus pandemic, local officials say this is not the time to ignore routine medical care.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar started his daily coronavirus media briefing April 15 by instead turning the podium over to representatives from Lourdes and United Health Services. Both UHS and Lourdes and dozens of medical practices are using telemedicine by computer or telephone to diagnose and treat patients. 

People are also being told in a real emergency, do not be afraid to come to the emergency room of a local hospital.

Anyone with a scheduled doctor appointment coming up should contact their provider for guidance.
