Broome Mobile COVID-19 Test Unit to Move to New Locations

A rapid COVID-19 testing facility now operated by Broome County in Binghamton will be moved to two other sites next week.

County Executive Jason Garnar has announced the mobile unit will be set up in Kirkwood Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It will operate at St. Mary's Church on Route 11.

The testing facility then will be moved to St. Patrick's Church on Keibel Road in Whitney Point. It is to operate there on Thursday and Friday next week.

The mobile unit is contained in a retrofitted BC Transit bus. It will remain at St. Patrick's Church on Leroy Street on Binghamton's West Side for the rest of this week.

The rapid testing facility is only for people with COVID-19 symptoms. People may make appointments by going to the Broome County website or by calling 211.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Broome County reported 671 active cases and 85 confirmed deaths due to the coronavirus.

Garnar said increases in COVID-19 cases have started to stabilize. He is continuing to urge people to stay home when possible and to wear masks when they do go out.
