Broome County legislators are voting on a final budget recommendation for 2020.

County Executive Jason Garnar presented his $401 million spending proposal in mid September, calling for a .51% reduction in property taxes and the addition of jobs in the Broome County Sheriff’s office and Broome Security.

The proposal also called for an investment in infrastructure on the SUNY Broome Community College campus.  The money would help make renovations to the old student services and science building as well as aid in the expansion of the BCC nursing program.

Garnar and his administration have been spending the past several weeks touring the county for individual budget presentations to municipalities.

The proposed budget can be found at www.gobroomecounty.com.

Today’s budget vote is scheduled for 5 p.m. November 7 in the Broome County Legislative Chambers.
