A former Endicott resident who now is being held in Broome County Jail faces a felony charge for allegedly violating an order of protection while being held in the facility.

Authorities say 33-year-old Alexander Griffin has been charged with first-degree criminal contempt. He was arrested on Friday.

Griffin is accused of creating a fake account using an electronic tablet device while in jail to communicate with a woman who has an active order of protection from him.

The electronic communication between Griffin and the woman was said to have occurred over a period of time.

According to a news release from the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Griffin was processed for arrest and issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge in Dickinson town court.
