As the snow melts and settles, it is becoming more heavy and dense.   Avoid overexertion when shoveling.   Remove snow gradually, taking frequent rest breaks, dress appropriately, drink plenty of water and seek emergency medical attention if you develop chest discomfort, breathing difficulty or other issues.

Keep vents for dryers and furnaces clear of snow and have a working carbon monoxide detector in your living space and follow all safety guidelines when using alternate heating sources like fireplaces, wood stoves and electric heaters.
