Deaths attributed to COVID-19 and new cases continue to rise in Broome County.

Officials January 6 reported 178 new cases and said a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s had died, bringing the County’s death toll to 185.  There have been 8,836 cases reported so far.

Three more people in Cortland County, one a patient in the hospital and two nursing home residents have died from COVID-19, bringing that county’s death toll to 48. Cortland County reported 51 new cases for a total of 2,645.

Chenango County reports 11 additional positive tests for the coronavirus for a total of 1,337.  There have been 18 deaths.

Delaware County added 25 cases to its total January 7 bringing the number of positive cases to 803. The death toll remains at 15.  Tioga County reported 42 new cases for a total of 1,903. The death toll remains at 64.

In all, New York State reported 161 deaths January 5 from COVID-19 for a total of 30,965.  There were 16,648 new positive tests for the coronavirus and people start to show symptoms of illness following holiday travel and visits.  New York now has had 1,057,676 cases since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
