Broome County officials say the Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Services is set for the start of the parks season.

County Parks are free and will be open from 8 a-m to dusk every day May 27 through Labor Day, September 4.

Swimming, picnicking and hiking are free at Greenwood, Dorchester and Nathaniel Cole Parks.

Beaches and boat rentals are open 11 am daily at all three parks with concessions at Cole and Greenwood open at 11:30.

Overnight camping is available at Greenwood Park.

There are also several events planned through the year, including a marathon, powerboat races, triathlon and search and rescue dog training.  There are also several movies and concerts taking place in the County Parks.
