As the heavier winds and rain from Hurricane Sandy move through Broome, Tioga and Chenango Counties more power outages are being reported by NYSEG.  As of 7 PM  970 NYSEG customers were reported without power in Broome County.  In Tioga County 217 NYSEG customers reported  a power outage. In Chenango County 233 customers had no power as well.

According to reports from the National Weather Service the strongest winds are expected to move through our area over the next  6 - 8 hours.  Numerous schools have already cancelled classes for tomorrow (check our Mang Insurance School Closing page at WNBF.com for the latest).

Our area can have plenty of damage from wind but any substantial flooding of rivers is not anticipated.  Heavier rainfall is expected to continue in the Poconos and through Central Pa.  Mountain regions in North Carolina to Southern Pa can get as much as 1 - 2 feet of snow over tonight and tomorrow with blizzard-like conditions.
