Broome County is past the 15-thousand mark for the number of coronavirus cases identified since the start of the pandemic a year ago.

March 8, Broome reported 15,083 cases and one additional death, bringing the county death toll to 319.

Tioga County is on the verge of reaching 3,000 cases with the report March 8 putting the number at 2,928. There have been 70 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Chenango County added 41 cases in it’s March 8 report for a total of 2,502 and deaths unchanged at 63.  Cortland County had 14 new cases for a total of 3,832 and deaths unchanged at 62. Delaware County reported 12 new cases for a total of 1,631 and deaths unchanged at 42.

Pennsylvania’s infection rate continues to slow with 16,891 new confirmed and suspected cases over the last week while the new infection rate a week ago was over 18,000.

Bradford County added 54 cases for a total of 4.449 with deaths unchanged over the week at 78.  Susquehanna County reported 37 new cases for a total of 1,739 and deaths unchanged at 53.  Wayne county reported 74 new cases for a total of 3,130.  Two more people in the county died of COVID-19 bringing the pandemic death toll to 68.
