Broome County Executive Takes State-of-the-County on the Road
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar takes his state of the county address on the road again.
As has been the tradition over the past several years, the Democrat has skipped speaking in the legislative chambers, delivering the annual address at development sites around the county.
This year the location is the former Sears building at the Oakdale Mall that is about to become home to the county Office of Employment and Training.
Garnar says he chooses his location for the annual speech carefully to draw attention to progress throughout the county. The Democrat says the re-use of the former retail space at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson city is “a prime example of how the power of partnerships is revitalizing Broome County.” Developer Douglas Matthews owns the building and has been working with the county on the renovations to make for office space for the employment and training offices and part of the Department of Social Services.
Last year, the address was given at an old factory in the City of Binghamton that has been converted into the ANSCO Loft Apartments.
The February 11 speech is at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
