Brindisi's Name Vanishes as NY-22 Race Remains Unsettled

Anthony Brindisi has disappeared. At least, his name suddenly is missing from the congressional offices he's utilized over the past two years.

With no winner certified in New York's 22nd Congressional District, the Utica Democrat is waiting to find out whether he'll be returning to Washington for a second term.

Republican Claudia Tenney had a 29-vote lead starting 2021 but a judge was still considering briefs filed by both campaigns.

A piece of tape now covers Brindisi's name on the entrance to his downtown Binghamton office at the MetroCenter on Court Street.

Brindisi's cheerful recorded greeting that was still playing on the office phone line Sunday afternoon has been replaced by a generic message mentioning only the "22nd Congressional District."

Someone answered the district's Utica office and advised a caller that all constituent services still were being addressed.

The House of Representatives website on Monday afternoon simply noted a "vacancy" in the district. There was no other information available online for constituents who might be seeking assistance.
