Remember last winter when the Southern Tier got pounded with four feet of snow, breaking not only records but all of our shovels? Of course, you do.

You might not want to remember all the snow that we got last winter much less think about the possibility of another winter of getting pounded on. Sure we live in the Northeast where snow in winter is a given, but most people didn't love getting 3.5 feet of it all in one day. If the Farmers' Almanac winter weather prediction is even remotely accurate you might want to buy a couple of extra shovels just in case because they're not saying that we'll get nearly 4 feet of snow all in one fell swoop, but they're also not saying we won't.

How Accurate Are Farmers' Almanac Weather Predictions?

Some people swear by the predictions made by the Farmers' Almanac while others just roll their eyes and claim it's nothing but malarkey. The publication actually did a fantastic job predicting the winter 2020-2021 forecast and so far, it's been spot on for the spring and summer 2021 forecast. If Farmers' Almanac is correct, for the rest of this season we should, "Watch for a hurricane in early to mid-August." And expect that, "September and October will be cooler and rainier than normal."

What Will the Weather Be Like in January 2022?

Winter officially begins on Tuesday, December, 21, and the Farmers' Almanac has already dubbed the season the “frosty flip-flop" winter. Farmers’ Almanac believes that winter will come in gradually in January with normal snowfall but temperatures above normal. However, by the end of the month that will all change and things will get cold. Very cold, actually.

What Is the Winter Forecast for February 2022?

When February rolls in, Farmers’ Almanac predicts we will see on average, “57% fewer days of measurable precipitation compared to January, a significant drop-off.” But don’t get too excited because this is where the “flip-flop” comes in. Farmers’ Almanac believes we will get nailed with what it is calling a “winter whopper” at the end of February.

Will The Northeast Get a Nor’easter in March 2022?

March will truly come in like a roaring lion says Farmers’ Almanac and when the snow comes, it will come in hard and heavy. Farmers’ Almanac says, “For the East and Midwest, for example, a late winter storm will blow in at mid-month followed by a nor’easter along the East Coast toward month’s end.” So possibly a double winter storm to close out the winter season? We’ll see.
