Binghamton University again is being recommended as a good educational value by a national guide.

The 2014 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges has named Binghamton as a "best buy" school.

Fiske selected 21 public and 20 private colleges and universities as "best buys." SUNY-Geneseo also made the new list.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Binghamton University president Harvey Stenger said "it's a great list" to be on, noting several other prominent schools received the recognition.

Stenger said the Fiske rating and Binghamton's showing in other well-known guides to higher education are important as students consider their options.

Stenger noted students and parents do an "enormous amount" of research about colleges and universities on the Internet. Positive recommendations by respected guides can result in Binghamton being added to lists of schools to be considered by prospective students.
