Classes have started at the new Binghamton University pharmacy school building in Johnson City.

The $60 million complex is operational less than four years after the Corliss Avenue site was acquired for the project.

The pharmacy school facility is on the west end of what is being developed as a university health sciences campus.

About 150 students are currently enrolled in the pharmacy school program. The total number of pharmacy students is expected to eventually rise to nearly 400.

The university's Decker School of Nursing will be moved to the Johnson City campus after renovations are completed on an Endicott Johnson factory building. Preparation work is underway for that project.

A $15 million research and development building later will be constructed between the pharmacy and nursing program facilities.
