Two men were stabbed in separate incidents about three hours apart in downtown Binghamton and the city's West Side.

The first assault was reported around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday after a man apparently was attacked in the area of Susquehanna and Exchange streets.

A nearby resident said the man was bleeding and sweating profusely when he showed up at an apartment complex and collapsed in an outside chair. He had been stabbed in the abdomen. Police and medics arrived moments later.

The man was taken to a hospital by ambulance. His condition was not known.

Police were called to an apartment house at 60 North Street on the West Side around 12:40 p.m. after a man was stabbed several times.

Fire department medics provided assistance to the injured man who was on the front porch of the two-family residence. He was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City by a Superior ambulance.

In both incidents, the men who were stabbed were believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.

Police have not said whether any suspects are in custody. It was not known whether the attacks may have been related.
