Authorities say officers pulled over a car near the intersection of Jarvis and Charlotte streets around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

During the stop, police discovered one of the vehicle's occupants had drugs in his possession.

After obtaining consent to search the car, officers found the cash and bonds that didn't belong to those in the vehicle.

The surprising discovery was linked to a theft that had occurred in Endwell. The larceny had not been known to the homeowner.

The two men who were in the vehicle with the stolen money were turned over to state police.

Binghamton police charged 51-year-old Alan Barnett of Route 26, Endicott, with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
