The operator of the Antler Lodge has responded to a notice from the city of Binghamton that lockdown proceedings have been initiated.

A 33-year-old man died after he was shot outside the Chenango Street establishment on July 24.

Mayor Richard David said the homicide was the latest in a series of incidents associated with the Antler Lodge.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program August 25, David said the owner has "responded to the city attorney's office." The mayor said "they want to come in and discuss the letter" putting them on notice that the Lockdown Law's provisions may be pursued by the city.

David said the New York State Liquor Authority also is reviewing incidents at the Antler Lodge.

The mayor said the establishment's liquor license could be in jeopardy because of violence and other reported problems.

David said the city is encouraging the liquor authority to "take a long, serious look at the history of problems" at the Antler Lodge.

The mayor said the meeting involving city attorneys and representatives of the establishment could occur within the next week or so. He said he expects he will attend that session.

David said he's not aware of incidents involving the Antler Lodge since last month's fatal shooting. He said he believes the establishment has not reopened.
