Stabbing Leads To Long Prison Term For Binghamton Man

A Binghamton man has been sentenced to serve time in a New York State Prison, following his conviction at trial on December 1, 2025,  according to an announcement from Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti.

On January 4, 2025, Binghamton Police responded to a report of a disturbance at 32 Mendelssohn Street, Binghamton. While at the scene, officers found a male victim suffering from a puncture wound to his chest.

According to the report, the investigation revealed that earlier in the evening, 50-year-old Paul Graham from Binghamton, the victim, and the victim’s girlfriend had been drinking at local bars.

After the victim was denied entry into a bar, an argument developed between Graham and the victim. All three eventually returned to the Graham's residence, and after an altercation, the victim sustained a laceration to his chest.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where a CT scan revealed that the weapon had cut the victim’s heart, requiring emergency surgery and intubation. The victim survived the stab wounds.

This was a violent and intentional act that nearly cost a man his life. The victim survived a devastating stab wound that required emergency surgery to his heart. I commend the Binghamton Police Department and the prosecution team for their hard work in holding this Defendant accountable. Graham was sentenced in Broome County Court to 12½ years in New York State Prison with 5 years of post-release supervision for Assault in the First Degree, and 2⅓ to 7 years in state prison for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.
