Authorities say an early-morning altercation between two men in the town of Union ended with a fatal stabbing.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a 22-year-old Binghamton man was taken to Lourdes Hospital in a private vehicle after the attack.

Q-Quan Richardson of Virgil Street was transferred from the Binghamton hospital to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. He died several hours later.

Investigators say Richardson sustained stab wounds to his torso. The incident was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The stabbing occurred during a large gathering near the old IBM Glen property at 1250 Robinson Hill Road. The suspect fled the area.

Robinson Hill Road was closed between Struble Road and the Binghamton Country Club as investigators processed the scene.

People with information about the stabbing may contact the sheriff's office at (607) 778-1196.
