Authorities say the suspect in the killing of a Binghamton woman has been taken into custody.

According to Binghamton police, 24-year-old Kout Akol of Binghamton surrendered himself to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department on Thursday.

Akol has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Takecia Mitchell. Investigators have said Mitchell was repeatedly stabbed in her Saratoga Terrace apartment early Saturday morning. She died a short time later.

City detectives transported Akol from Onondaga County to Binghamton. He was arraigned in city court and sent to Broome County Jail.
