Binghamton Highway Project Work To Resume
Major construction work on the Prospect Mountain project at the Route 17/Interstate 81 interchange should get underway again within a few weeks.
David Hamburg, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Transportation, says operations on the project in the city of Binghamton and the town of Dickinson likely will resume late this month.
The project now is almost 55 percent complete.
Although occasional blasting operations were part of the project's work during the last construction season, Hamburg says no blasting is planned this year.
Hamburg says Exit 4 in Binghamton will remain closed during the upcoming construction season.
An average of 70,000 vehicles use the 17/81 interchange on a typical weekday.
