New Downtown Binghamton Venue Promises “Flying Cocktails”
An establishment opening its doors in downtown Binghamton is featuring a unique cocktail delivery system.
Vault 168 has set up operations at the site of the former Water Street Brewing Company, which closed two years ago.
Binghamton resident Jason Steinfort, a co-owner of Vault 168, said he'd been looking for the right spot for the business for more than a year. He settled on the Water Street location last summer and has been working on a major makeover of the place.
The black-and-gold interior concept is said to have been "inspired by old bank vaults and modern speakeasies."
The most unusual feature is billed as a "pneumatic cocktail shaker." It's a system that offers a special visual spectacle of watching your drink being "sealed, launched and sent through (a) high-speed tube system."
It employs a pneumatic tube contraption that in the past was primarily used by banks.
Steinfort said he's aware of only one other similar system now in use in the United States.
Vault 168 has operated a few nights as part of its soft opening. The grand opening is set for Thursday and Friday.
In addition to various specialty cocktails, the place will offer a food menu featuring an array of burgers, sandwiches, appetizers and desserts.
