The former City of Binghamton Public Works Department barn just off the Brandywine Highway is due to come down.

Mayor Richard David says the ugly building is in line to be demolished in the next few months, freeing the two acre lot for private development.

The City needs to do asbestos abatement and other evaluations before demolition can begin.

The lot has been vacant for over ten years after new facilities for the DPW were developed.

The location of the parcel is near major highways, making it a prime location for business development
