President Biden says Governor Andrew Cuomo should resign if an investigation confirms he has sexually harassed women.

Biden made the comment in an ABC News interview. He said "a woman should be presumed to be telling the truth and should not be scapegoated and become victimized by her coming forward."

The president noted the allegations against Cuomo are being investigated. He said if the allegations ultimately are confirmed, "it may very well be, there could be a criminal prosecution that is attached to it."

Although Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand have issued a statement saying the governor should resign, Cuomo has said he won't step down.

The governor has denied acting inappropriately, although he has declined to address specific allegations made by several women in recent weeks.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has launched an investigation into the allegations. A separate investigation is being conducted by the state Assembly.
