Betting on Sporting Events Begins at Tioga Downs Casino

Tioga Downs Casino Resort's sports betting facility has started operating, a month after it was authorized by New York state lawmakers.

The FanDuel Sportsbook facility at the Nichols casino opened on Friday.

Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural said preparations for the sports betting operation had been underway for months.

The 2,600-square-foot facility has eight betting windows and more than two-dozen video displays.

The site also has self-service betting kiosks, sports tickers and seating for more than 50 people.

Bets will be accepted on major sporting events, including baseball, soccer, football and basketball.

The Tioga Downs site is the first FanDuel Sportsbook site in New York state. The company has similar operations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and West Virginia.
