The Binghamton Bearcats wrestling team opens the season on Sunday by hosting the annual Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open. The day-long tournament features many of the top collegiate wrestlers in the eastern United States.

Coach Kyle Borshoff returns for his second full season.  He has a sold combination of returners as well as newcomers. Two of his top returners are Anthony Sparacio at 141 and Lou DePrez at 184.  Sparacio went 12-1 in dual matches , finished third in the EIWA tournamen and advanced to the NCAA's.  DePrez went 11-0 in dual matches and advanced to the NCAA's as well.

Binghamton has quite a schedule planned that Borshoff hopes will prepare his grapplers to strong finishes into the postseason. Home matches include:

North Carolina State on Saturday, November 23

Lehigh on January 10 and

Virginia Tech on January 18.

The Bearcats travel to Ithaca to face Cornell on February 15.

Binghamton also will compete at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas and the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Coach Kyle Borshoff will talk about the Jonathan Kaloust Invitational and the season ahead with Roger Neel on News Radio 1290 WNBF this Friday morning at 8:20 AM.
