The Binghamton Bearcats softball team had their season ended on Friday afternoon with a 5-4 loss to UMass Lowell in eight innings at the America East Championship Tournament in Hartford.  Binghamton came into the tournament as a number six seed while the River Hawks are the number one seed after winning the regular season championship.

The Bearcats end their season with a record of 19-29 and finish fourth in the America East post-season tourney.  UMass Lowell ups its record to 28-19 and continues into the final day of play on Saturday.

The loss put Binghamton's post-season record at 2-2.  After an opening day 7-3 loss to Stony Brook the Bearcats faced must win situations to stay alive in the double elimination event.  They defeated Hartford 5-3 and two-time defending champion Albany before being eliminated with the lost to the River Hawks.
