Doug Barron and Miguel Angel Jimenez share the lead by one shot over Marco Dawson and Scott Parel after the first round of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open at En Joie Golf Club in Endicott.  Both shot 7-under rounds of 65, one shot better than Marco Dawson and Scott Parel.

Barron just turned 50 in July and this is just his second start on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule. He made his TOUR debut at the Senior Open where he tied for 5th place and earned $72,960.  He gained entry into the Dick's Sporting Goods Open to secure a qualifying spot by shooting a 66 on Monday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing.

During his time on the PGA TOUR Barron played seven B.C. Open Tournaments and tied for 7th in 1998.  In Friday's round he made seven birdies and played a bogey-free round.

Jimenez carded eight birdies and hit 17 of 18 greens to pull into a tie for the lead.  This is his third appearance at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.  He finished in a tie for 13th in 2017.  He has one victory this season capturing the Chubb Classic with a playoff win over Olin Browne and Bernhard Langer.

Marco Dawson and Scott Parel are tied for third place at six-under while David McKenzie and Billy Andrade are tied for fifth place at five-under par.

13 golfers are tied at four-under par including Bernhard Langer, Davis Love III and Kenny Perry.  Scott McCarron shot a three-under par 69 while Colin Montgomery, Fred Couples and Joey Sindelar finished with scores of 70, five shots behind.
