Police in Syracuse say they have no suspects in connection with a shooting that resulted in the death of an 11-month-old girl and injuries to two other young children.

Investigators say someone opened fire on a vehicle as it drove on the southwest side of Syracuse shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Three girls who were in the back seat were wounded. The 11-month-old child died at Upstate University Hospital. The other children - sisters who are 3- and 8-years-old - were being treated for their injuries.

The baby's mother and the mother of the sisters were in the front seat of the vehicle when the shooting occurred.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh on Monday morning said "this is a nightmare... an unimaginable tragedy."

Police chief Kenton Buckner said no suspects have been identified in the case and no arrests had been made.
