B.U. Professor Gets $1.2 Million Grant to Study Campus Sexual Violence
A researcher at Binghamton University is getting over a million dollars in a grant to study sexual violence screening on college campuses.
The announcement from the university comes during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences Professor Melissa Sutherland and an associate, Professor Katherine Hutchinson at the University of Rhode Island’s College of Nursing, are recipients of a four-year, $1.2-million grant awarded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports college women face some of the highest rates of intimate partner and sexual violence.
The professors will investigate and identify facilitators to abuse and barriers to intervention.
The project will be conducted across the United States.
