The red-hot Binghamton Mets won their sixth straight game July 22 in New Britain, Connecticut as they downed the Rock Cats 9-5. Binghamton completes a sweep of the three-game series and puts the B-Mets into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division.  They lead Reading by one-half game and Trenton by a game and one-half.  It also sets the stage for a key four-game series in Trenton as the B-Mets try to get a stronger hold on first place. Game one in that series is July 23 at 7:00 p.m. (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).

In the July 22 win, pinch-hitter Jared King ripped a grand slam home run to give the B-Mets an 8-0 advantage. It was Binghamton's fifth grand slam homer of the season.
