B-Mets Split Double-Header
Unplayable field conditions forced postponement of The August 18 Binghamton Mets home game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The game was made up as part of a doubleheader, which the B-Mets split with the Squirrels. The Bs took the first game 7-4 with Richmond squeezing by 2-1 in the second.
In the first of two seven inning games Robert Gsellman put a 6-6 record on the line against Richmond's Matt Gage who was 2-2. In the nightcap the B-Mets started Rainy Lara sporting a 6-4 slate against Matt Lujan who is 6-5 for the Flying Squirrels.
Binghamton headed into action in second place in the Eastern Division trailing the Reading Fightin Phils by 4.5 games and ahead of third-place Trenton by 4.0 games. The top two teams in each division qualify for the post-season. The teams conclude the series August 20 at 6:35 p.m. This is the only time Richmond plays at Binghamton this season.
