Work to tear down a fire-damaged recycling facility in Tioga County is almost finished.

LCP Group of Vestal has been demolishing the Taylor Garbage Service building on Route 434 in Apalachin for more than two weeks.

Jared Taylor Thursday said all of the debris that remained at the site following the January fire has been removed. He said demolition work on some days has continued until 10 p.m.

Although some residents who live near the property have expressed concern about noise generated by the nighttime work, Taylor said the company had received no complaints. He said the demolition job should be completed soon.

Taylor also said the company is continuing with its plans to build another recycling facility on the site. Construction on the new facility is expected to start this spring.
