Snow squalls in the afternoon and evening November 21 may lead to quick 1 to 2 inch snow accumulations on roads, resulting in slippery travel as many motorists are taking to the road to travel to their Thanksgiving destinations. Adding to the snow, Northwest winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts of 30 to 35 miles per hour will also create areas of blowing snow. High profile vehicles will be affected by the strong winds.

Record or near record cold weather is also expected into Friday morning across the area. Wind chill values as low as 15 below zero are possible into Thanksgiving Day.

Officials remind people to take the proper precautions to protect against this early season cold weather and remember pets and other animals.
