How Many Are Traveling This Thanksgiving?

And busy this Thanksgiving holiday it will be. According to AAA, almost 80 million Americans will be traveling at least 50 miles or more on the road and/or in the air. This includes the period of Tuesday before Thanksgiving, through the following Monday.

AAA says that is about 1.7 million more than in 2023 and around 2 million more than in 2019. To say this is the busiest travel time of the year, would be spot on.

What Mode Of Transportation Do Americans Prefer?

How does AAA break down the type of travel over the Thanksgiving holiday? Well, the prediction is that just under 72 million will head to grandma's house (or wherever) in the family truckster.

Just under 6 million are projected to take to the air for the holiday, and a bit over 2 million will travel in the 'Other' category. That means by bus, boat, or train.

So, when is the worst time to travel over this Thanksgiving holiday? AAA says Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons (11/26 & 27.) Although if you have to, mornings are best. The best day to travel? That would be Thanksgiving day. But who wants to do that?

Where are Americans going to this Thanksgiving according to AAA? If you said Orlando, Florida, you are correct!
