Binghamton University All-American Jesse Garn and Bearcat assistant coach Annette Acuff visited the WNBF First News Studio after their return from the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.  Garn finished fourth in the men's 800 finals last weekend to earn All-America honors.

The fourth-place finish by Garn is the best by any BU athlete at an NCAA Championship event since standout wrestler Donnie Vinson finished third in the 149 weight class at the 2012 NCAA Wrestling Championships.  Garn finished just .48 of a second behind the National Champion Edward Kemboi from Iowa State.

Garn credits his assistant coach, Annette Acuff, with helping him develop into an elite runner at the national level.  Coach Acuff was also key in the success of Binghamton's most recent All-America runner Erik van Ingen.  Van Ingen was eighth in the 1,500 at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Meet. Garn has one more season of eligibility remaining in both indoor and outdoor track.
