Two beds are being added to the Addiction Crisis Center in Binghamton following approval by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.

The Crisis Center serves residents 18 and over, who are facing an alcohol or chemical dependency crisis that are in need of a safe, sober environment.

The services include a place to stay in a structured environment with medically monitored withdrawal, a 24 hour hotline and assessments for individuals and group counseling as well as referrals to other treatments.

Officials at the expansion announcement said while two beds doesn’t seem like a lot, they will go far in getting more people life-saving treatment.

Additional expansion is possible in the future.

After initial treatment, some residents move on to the next level, often at facilities operated by Fairview Recovery Services, which is also increasing its capacity by 6 beds.
