Addiction Center of Broome County Gets Federal Grant
A program that pairs people who themselves have dealt with addiction with in-coming rehab clients is being expanded thanks to a new federal grant.
The Addiction Center of Broome County and the Broome County Health Department say $265, 500 is coming to locations identified as High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas.
The funding is earmarked to bring in two more staff members for rapid treatment within 72-hours of a reported overdose as well as two more peers for a pilot program offering services, training and medication-assisted treatment.
12 programs in ten states have been identified to share a total of $3 million through the federal grant.
